Quiet please . . .
/I'm sitting here doing work from my bed, yep it's 10AM and I still haven't gotten out of bed—sue me!—and I got to thinking how wonderful the sound of peace is. The only noise I hear is the humming of a ceiling fan, the rhythmic chant of the crickets outside my windows, and the tapping of my fingers on the keyboard.
Peace
The world is full of so much noise, and anger. Yesterday I was scrolling Facebook and Twitter, as I'm known to do, and I became ill at the posts. Literally, sick to my stomach. The vitriol, the hypocrisy, the misinformation put me out of commission for hours. I can't do that. I'm a mother of three who is trying to teach my children to be lights in this dark world. I'm trying to be a light. I can't be fueled by hate. I WON'T be.
I will be fueled by LOVE. I can't change the past, I can only help in writing the future. I want to write a better future than what is being written right now. I will not share tweets and stories of hate. I will not read articles that generalize people by race, religion or sexual preference. I will look at individuals and their hearts because not all cops are racist, not all blacks are thugs, not all white girls cry 'white girl tears', not all Republicans are bigots, not all Democrats are evil . . . I could go on, but you get my point.
I'll be taking a social media break from my feeds for a while. I will continue to post on my author page and talk with my readers because that is one of my happy places, but the rest of the noise is being cut out. Call it a sanity break. I pray you are able to find peace in this chaos, too.
